Analyzing The Autonomic Nervous System
& The Dominance Factor

The Autonomic Nervous System is concerned with the Rest and Rebuild, and Fight or Flight mechanisms of our body’s automatic functions and responses. Known as “The Master Regulator” it regulates all involuntary activities of the body. These include heart rate, digestion, respiration, tissue repair and rebuilding, cellular activity, temperature regulation, immune activity, and the optimum functioning of the brain and all organs and glands. For instance, the Sympathetic Nervous System speeds up the heart rate, while the Parasympathetic Nervous System slows it down; and both processes are needed for the proper functioning of the heart.

Since Francis Pottenger, MD, first published his Symptoms of Visceral Disease in 1919, many pioneers have contributed to the field of Metabolic Typing and this Advanced Metabolic Typing Diet Program. In 1983, W.L. Wolcott discovered that any given nutrient (or food) can have varying effects, depending upon which part of a person’s Autonomic Nervous System is dominant – the Sympathetic or the Parasympathetic. The given nutrient could be stimulating or sedating; acidifying or alkalizing; and even catabolic or anabolic in its effect - not because of the intrinsic value of the food, but due to its effect on the dominant control mechanism. This is why a “one-size-fits-all” approach to health and well-being is not effective. Success is dependent upon a person’s individual imbalances and reactions to foods and nutrients. Now you can understand why it is VITALLY IMPORTANT TO EAT FOODS THAT CREATE OPTIMUM BALANCE AND WELL-BEING FOR YOUR PARTICULAR METABOLIC TYPE and not follow just any generic program.

The purpose of The Advanced Metabolic Typing Diet Program is to stimulate, strengthen, and support the weak side of the Autonomic Nervous System in order to restore homeostatic balance and metabolic efficiency within the dominant side.

The Autonomic Nervous System also regulates the hormonal system so that optimal amounts of each hormone are released for use at the right time. If the Endocrine System is stressed, The Advanced Metabolic Typing Diet Program makes recommendations to bring balance in that area as well.

Your energy level is dependent upon how your Oxidative System converts nutrients to energy in your cells. If you are a Fast Oxidizer you will metabolizes glucose from food too quickly: Imagine the energy level of a cheetah. Slow Oxidizers metabolizes fats and proteins too quickly. Imagine the energy level of a tortoise. Mixed Oxidizers metabolize glucose, fats and proteins at in an optimum way. So you can see how important it is to eat the right kinds of foods to achieve a balanced rate of oxidation, and therefore energy.

Using Food For Energy (Not Storing It As Fat)
& Achieving Emotional Balance

The Advanced Metabolic Typing Diet Program will help you fine tune your diet so that you eat foods that are ideal for your particular metabolism, in the correct ratios of macronutrients: proteins, fats and carbohydrates. You will discover the “fuel mixture” that works best for you. Remember that cells are like tiny “engines of metabolism,” and food is the fuel that each cell runs on. When the right foods are eaten in the correct proportions of macronutrients, that food is converted into energy, and not stored as fat. THE GOAL IS TO BURN THE MAJORITY OF YOUR FOOD INTAKE FOR ENERGY, and STORE THE LEAST AMOUNT AS FAT.

Eating the right fuel mixture for your individual metabolism can also help you ACHIEVE EMOTIONAL BALANCE. For instance, if you are feeling nervous, irritable, hyperactive or anxious, you may need to eat more veggies and grains than meats or fats if you are one particular Metabolic Type. However, the same symptoms in another Metabolic Type would need the opposite kind of dietary changes to achieve balance, i.e. they need to increase their consumption of meats and fats. What Metabolic Type Are You?

You may fit into a particular Metabolic Type by easily recognizing some of the traits and symptoms listed below, or you may be a mixture of Types. The Advanced Metabolic Typing Diet Program can help you determine your type more accurately, and assist you in becoming balanced more easily and quickly.

ANS Dominant Sympathetic Type or Carbo Type: Logical, goal-oriented, and left-brained. Good concentration and emotionally cool; but can be nervous and irritable, short tempered, hyperactive, or anxious when out of balance. Needs more vegetables and grains than meat and fats. Small appetite and craves sweets.
ANS Dominant Parasympathetic Type or Protein Type: Intuitive, creative, right-brained. Warm, out-going personality, slow to anger, cautious. Can be overly emotional when stressed and out of balance. Needs more meat and fats. Must limit carbohydrates and high glycemic fruits and vegetables. Large appetite, and craves meat and fatty foods.
Oxidative Dominant Fast Metabolic Type: Irritable and hyper, yet exhausted underneath when out of balance. Poor at metabolizing fats, and overly dependent on carbohydrates for energy. Does better when eating higher amounts of richer proteins and fats to slow down the oxidative rate. Is hungry all the time, so may crave carbohydrates.
Oxidative Dominant Slow Metabolic Type: Does better on lower fat flesh proteins like white chicken and turkey. Should not over eat dairy products because a high amount of calcium slows down the oxidative rate. Is not hungry between meals.
